📁 Google Drive ➡️ OneDrive Migration (Manual Method)
If you're not using a third-party migration tool like ShareGate \ BitTitan or any other tool, here’s how to handle Google Drive to OneDrive migration manually:
1. Export Data from Google Drive (Google Takeout):
Go to Google Takeout.
Select only "Drive" data.
Choose export format .zip and delivery via download link or Drive itself.
2. Prepare for Import:
Extract .zip files locally.
Reorganize folder structure (if needed).
Rename folders to avoid sync issues (remove special characters like #, %, &, etc.).
3. Import into OneDrive for Business:
Use OneDrive desktop sync client to sign in with the M365 account.
Drag and drop content into synced OneDrive folder.
Bulk Import Option:
For multiple users, script upload using SharePoint Migration Tool (SPMT) or PowerShell + Graph API to upload to each user’s OneDrive.
📝 Note: Shared Drives and Google Docs require conversion. Google Docs can be auto-converted to Office formats in Takeout, but validation post-migration is crucial.
🔐 Identity & Security Setup
Ensure users have:
Azure Active Directory accounts provisioned.
SSO with Google Apps disabled after cutover.
MFA enabled via Microsoft Authenticator for enhanced security.

Conditional Access Policies
Microsoft Defender for M365
